On Sunday, May 6, 2018, the Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to provide a motorcycle escort for 185 WWII, Korean War and Vietnam Veterans and their Guardians, from the Embassy Suites Hotel, 4705 Clydesdale Parkway, Loveland, Colorado to Signature Flight Support, 7850 Harry B. Combs Parkway at Denver International Airport (DIA). These Veterans will be flown to Washington D.C. to see their Memorials at no cost to them. The Veterans have been asked to arrive at the Embassy Suites by 6:30AM for registration and check-in, at which time they will receive their travel instructions. The Patriot Guard Riders will have a Flag Line in place as the Veterans gather at the Hotel.

Buses, provided by CSU, will arrive around 7:00AM and the veterans will board the buses at approximately 7:30AM for an 8:00AM departure for Signature Flight Support. Several Law Enforcement Agencies will be providing LEO escort all the way to the Airport.

For the past seven years, the Patriot Guard Riders of Colorado, by a unanimous vote of the Honor Flight of Northern Colorado, has been chosen and designated the "official and preferred" escort to honor these men and women.

The parking area for the escort bikes will be in the east parking lot in a "coned off" area. Please park all escort bikes there. By 5:30AM there will PGR members to direct the bikes to the appropriate parking location.

5:30AM to 6:00AM - Stage at the Embassy Suites Hotel, east parking lot, 4705 Clydesdale Parkway
6:15AM - Mission Briefing
6:30AM - Form Flag Line as directed by the Colorado PGR Ride Captains

Rick Shoaf, Greg Watson, Roger Schmidt and Matt Tippetts will serve as Ride Captains.

IMPORTANT: There will be two briefings, one at 6:15AM and the second just before the procession will depart for Denver International Airport. The second briefing, a safety meeting, will be conducted by the Lead Law Enforcement Officer. You MUST attend both briefings in order to participate in the escort. There will be no exceptions. Riders also must be staged by 6:00AM for the escort. Those arriving late will not be staged.

The Colorado PGR, at the request of the Honor Flight of Northern Colorado Board of Directors, will limit the number of bikes and trikes leading the buses to 50. The balance will ride behind the buses. Last May, a record number of 138 bikes and trikes participated in the escort. With those numbers, it made it difficult for the bus drivers to maintain a constant and reasonable speed. The first 50 bikes/trikes that arrive between 5:30AM and 6:00AM will be staged to lead the buses. Regardless of where you ride, this is one of our most well attended events and our participation means a great deal to the heroes that will be travelling on the Honor Flight. Thanks to all for your past and future cooperation.

If you are not able to make it to Loveland, but, wish to participate in the Send Off at Signature Flight Support, 7850 Harry B. Combs Parkway at DIA, please plan to arrive by 8:45AM. We WILL NOT be providing a Flag Line at Signature Flight Support in order to avoid congestion at the entrance to the facility.

I am honored to participate in this great event again this year. I will be bringing a small group from the CVMA Mile High Chapter with me as well. See you then.
