The Patriot Guard Riders have been asked to attend the WELCOME HOME for troops returning from deployment overseas.
This mission will consist of greeting the troops as they deplane, and then a decision will be made as to whether we will escort the busses to Ft. Carson, or simply head over to Ft. Carson to take part in the official Welcome Home ceremony. (Our participation in any escort will be at the discretion of Ft. Carson Military Police).
Staging will take place at the end of the paved section of road near the Military Terminal at the Colorado Springs Airport.
To get to the staging location, take Drennan/Milton Proby east from Powers into the Colorado Springs Airport. Take the first right about 3/4 of a mile in and then make an immediate left. You'll notice large signs that point to Crestview Drive and Bud Breckner Blvd. Depending on where you look, there also may be a sign that says Air Cargo road. These are all the same road and lead to a series of defense contractor buildings. Follow this around past the buildings until you come to the end of the pavement. We will stage in the right lane of the road at the end.
Stage: 2230 (10:30 pm) Brief: 2245 (10:45 pm) Depart: 2300 (11:00 pm)
Official Ceremony: 0230 (2:30am) at the SEC
If you have not previously filled out the Dod Access Form and plan to attend this mission, please do so. Even if you have a valid military ID that allows you access to Ft. Carson you will NOT be allowed to participate in this mission unless your information is included on this form as well.
You can find the form and information about it here: http://forums.coloradopgr.org/topic56-ft-carson-and-peterson-afb-access-list.aspx edited by admin on 8/4/2010

Just got word that the Welcome Home ceremony for this is now 0430 at Waller Gym (as opposed to 0345 at the SEC)

Being time and date challenged, I need to ask ... is staging for this Welcome Home 45 minutes after the staging for the Deployment mission? I'm really not trying to be confused or confusing, just need to ask if the two missions for this date are really 45 minutes apart, or am I reading it wrong? Help please. Thank you.

Yes, it really is. We have 2 concurrent missions, one incomming and one outgoing.

Ok, I've received 2 updates on this mission. One from A/DACG folks and one from 4th ID. They do NOT agree with one another, so I have a call in to try and figure out who's correct.
Right now I am going to ASSUME that the message from 4th ID is the correct one, and will update as I get confirmation as to when this mission will actually take place.
With that said...
Staging at 2345 with departure at 0015. (1145pm and 12:15am)
Also - according to 4th ID, the official ceremony will take place at 0330 at the SEC and NOT at Waller Gym.

I'll just laugh and go with the flow I guess.. Turns out neither of the previous updates were correct.
New staging time at 2230 with departure at 2300 (10:30pm and 11:00pm)
As far as I know, the Send Off mission for midnight is still as scheduled.

Yeah, that one. The way things have been going, it's likely to end up being way early anyway. Either that or "Right on time" depending on who you talk to.
But you're right, it's currently set to stage at 2am.
