CONFIRMED MISSION FOR: James Lloyd Chaney, United States Navy, MM-2, USS Ajax (AR-6), WWII Veteran, Denver, Colorado

The family of MM-2 James Lloyd Chaney, United States Navy, USS Ajax (AR-6), WWII Veteran, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders of Colorado to stand in his Honor on, Saturday, 11 February, between 2PM - 3PM, at the Capitol Heights Presbyterian Church, 11th Avenue and Fillmore, Denver, Colorado.

He joined The Navy on 30Oct 1942 and was a Plank Owner on USS Ajax (AR-6). He spent WWII in the South Pacific as a Machinist Mate doing battle damage repairs on the fleet from Pearl Harbor to Okinawa. He was off Okinawa getting ready for the invasion of the Japanese mainland when the war ended --- he never doubted the wisdom or had time for anyone debating the ethics of dropping the bombs --- it was the right thing to do.

I need a Ride Captain to post to accept this mission.

RC: "Nick"

Stage: 1:00pm - Capitol Heights Presbyterian Church, 11th Avenue and Fillmore, Denver, Colorado.
Brief: 1:15pm
Flag Line: 1:30pm

Please follow this link to post your condolences:

* Lloyd has been cremated and no cemetery service is planned at this time. I should note that this church has no parking lot and on-street parking is pretty limited. I would like for the Ride Captain to go and check out the area for a staging area. I have more information to pass to the Ride Captain for this mission once accepted.

** Mr. Cheney is the father-in-law of Jack “St Thunder” Casey, one of our Ride Captains from the Colorado Springs area.

Jack and Sharon, my thoughts and prayers are with you. It pains me to say I will be out of state for drill, but I will pause and take a moment as I perform my Navy duties, to honor a fallen Hero Sailor.

Jim, will you have enough flags or would you like me to bring some up from the Springs?
