The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to welcome home Ft. Carson-based troops that have been deployed in support of the Global War on Terror.

This mission will consist of 3 parts.

First, we will greet the troops as they deplane and get ready to demanifest. Next, we will greet the soldiers as they board the busses for their trip to Carson. Finally we will escort the buses to the Special Event Center on Ft. Carson and will participate in the official Welcome Home ceremony.

(Note that we haven't been doing the escorts for these lately, but we have been specifically requested by the unit leadership to ensure that they are properly escorted home)

We will stage for this mission in the regular area which is just outside of the Military Facility gate on Embraer blvd. To get to the staging area, head east on Drennan/Milton Proby (The main road into the Colorado Springs Airport) past Powers until you see a sign for Bud Breckner Road. (This will be about 3/4 mile east of Powers and is the first right you can take) Head south on Bud Breckner until you see Embraer Blvd. Head East on Embraer and follow that until you come to an area with white stripes painted on the pavement on the far right-hand side. This will be just outside the gate of the military terminal facility and has an area of pavement on the far right ideal for staging.

If you have not yet filled out the DoD Base Access form (You only need to fill it out once) please do so. The form can be found here: http://forums.coloradopgr.org/DoDForm.aspx

Staging:0915 (9:15 am)
Brief: 0930 (9:30 am)
Depart: 0945 (9:45 pm)

I will try to be there for this Happy occasion. (I might be a little late 20 mins. or so due to prior commitment that keeps me from leaving Fort Collins before 0600)

Hey Steve - It will be good to see you for one of these missions. Fair warning though, the timeline for this one is very compressed. If the plane is on schedule we'll have plenty of time, but we aren't going to have the normal 2 hours between the troops getting off the plane and loading onto the buses. They will actually be in-processing elsewhere and will have already done all the paperwork.

Bob...things are going to run fast and tight tomorrow morning...we have been told that the troops will go from plane onto buses and right to the SEC...there will not be the "normal" demanifestation that usually takes place..
